Quick update (10-01-08)

The early arrivals will spend the night on Friday the 3rd in Lone Pine - as of 9/21 there were only a few rooms left in Lone Pine. Lone Pine hotels
Plan is, to leave Saturday morning (10/4) into Death Valley. I have put a brief itinerary for the first few days together.

At this point we might have about 20 cars and 30 people participating. A very high number for a US G event - even though not all guest are driving a G, yet. One day they will!

Most nights will be camping (equipment tips here) - but whenever we have a chance to get a hotel room, we will (probably every 3rd or 4th night).

I am working on a plan to communicate our location for meeting to the later arrivals.

Non of the driving will be hard core - so, no danger of damage to your vehicle is expected.

I have created a project to restore famous Marble Bath. We will visit the site during our trip (around Tuesday) and replenish the blue glass marbles.

For communication between cars (not mandatory) I recommend FRS family radios. I am running channel 11.
If you have a 2 meter radio (some of us do) - bring it, as it might help.
If you are trying to catch up with the group, try my sat phone 254.204.0690 (coverage is only intermittend and you might have to try several times)

I will bring a large propane stove and can cook for about 8 of us. I am bringing enough food for about 5 different dinners for 8 (roastbeef & rice, pasta, chili con carne, lentil soup, more pasta). Let me know if you want to be fed by me. This offer is for dinner only.
